Inis Meain..."Warmth from the Edge of the Earth."
On a remote lime stone island paradise fifteen miles off the western coast of Ireland, some of the planet's most cherished, warm and exquisite sweaters are lovingly made. On this peaceful Aran Island in Galway Bay, it is the warmth of it's people, not just their sweaters that your visit will quickly uncover. On Inis Meain, you will meet our unique and beautiful friends Marie-Therese, her husband Ruairi and his father Tarlach de Blacam. Tour their renowned, timeless knitting mill; get lost among miles of mesmerizing limestone walls and just breath...you won't believe the perfection of the air.
In their pursuit of excellence, this passionate family was inspired to construct a small, peaceful, yet modern and luxuriously simple inn and restaurant by the sea. In their restaurant, Chef Ruairi, assisted by Marie-Therese, will prepare something amazing, fresh from the sea...and the views are, let's just say " from the edge of the earth." For your stay, each room is complete with: no television, a fishing rod, books of local interest, and a bicycle. You'll need nothing more...except of course, a sweater.

Inis Meáin has a deep cultural heritage from prehistoric monuments, to its importance for artistic luminaries of the past and present including playwrights JM Synge and Martin McDonagh. Currently showing at The Atlantic Theatre in New York to rave reviews is McDonagh’s Cripple of Inishmaan, a dark comedy based on Inis Meáin in the 1930’s.
